NOV28 Declutter Habit Cha(lle)nge

Daily themes and creative plans.

The year’s November 28 Day Declutter Habit Challenge has been quite a structured affair with themes for every day of the week. However within the structure there’s lots of room to do things your way. It’s possible to unleash your creativity within some disciplined organisation.

For example, Monday = FRESH START

Each day of the week has an easy to manage theme. This will be something that is easy to incorporate into your day and if you are completely overwhelmed it will give that helpful something to focus on. Fresh Start Monday means whatever did or didn’t happen last week is in the past. How will you wash the slate clean so there’s no dwelling on past mistakes.

Planning is a major part of reorganising your surroundings and your life.

Which is why I believe in Thursday = THOUGHTFUL.

This is about taking time to plan. If you’re a visual person, creating a poster with your weekly to do list and placing it in a prominent position could be helpful. Arrange it around the daily decluttering themes. Perhaps you’ll prefer to incorporate the themes into your diary. Make it work for you.

Saturday = SWEAT

You knew you’d really have to roll your sleeves up sometime.

Having a simple rhythm to the week helps keep organising essentials under control. Setting aside one day a week to really get into a project actually gives you 6 days to simply tinker around the edges. So Saturday it is. Time to sweat

But we do carve out some you time with Sunday = SETTLE

Believe it or not Sunday’s theme may be a challenge for you. It seems like it would be the easiest just to relax & enjoy the fruits of your weeks labours but letting go can be hard.

As well as working to your daily theme it’s important to make time to think and plan your next day. To create new and lasting habits your plan will 'do-able'. There’s no point on making things hard on ourselves with hard to achieve wish lists. Keeping our new clutter free habit simple will ensure that it will continue.

So are you inspired to create your own Declutter Project – perhaps a personal pre-Christmas project with your own daily themes. What keep you accountable? How will you use this time that you have committed to?
